Opening webmail attachments

I have XP and I.E. 6. When I click on canada.com webmail attachments I get a
small red X in a small rectangle, upper left, on a blank page. This started
after a new clean install of XP, boosted RAM to 128, installed Norton
Anti-Virus. Windows Messenger and OE are disabled but not uninstalled.
Checked my email preferences under canada.com (fine). Sent them a query, no
response. Got rid of a whack of spyware (Spybot S&D), immunized with Spyware
Blaster, deleted Windows temp files, uninstalled Norton and replaced with AVG
v7 (found nothing), ran Registry Mechanic and rubbed my belly whilst patting
my head. No luck. Any suggestions appreciated.

Does it require Java?

http://java.sun.com if it does.

Thanks, Galen, that did the trick. Valuable page, must favouritize
it.

I keep it in my clipboard manager as it's an often asked question and the
solutions offered there are the MOS T common reasons.
