error message for messanger keeps popping

I'm seeing this small window popping up every cuple of
seconds/minutes with the name "messenger" on the
top. It has this windows messenger icon on the top right
(two green dummies).
it said on bold : messenger has encountered a problem and
needs to close. we are sorry for the inconvenience. If
you were in the middle.........etc. Please tell
microsoft... etc.

If I check for details I will always find:
error signature:
AppName: msmsgs.exe AppVer: 4.7.0.2009
ModName: rtcdll.dll
ModVer: 5.1.2600.1351 Offset: 0000aed3

I choose send error report once but it keeps coming back.
I choose dont send over and over again with no result,
the window keeps popping up and disturbs all my work, on
and off line both in or off windows programs.

I've tried disabling windows messenger but it does pop
up all the time and whenever I use outlook or when I
manually open windows messenger.

Spybot and ad-ware with spyware blaster does not cure.
I'm using virus protection norton antivirus and all these
are updated.

COuld this be an error or else?
Help me please, it irritates me so much and I try not to
re-install since I will lose everything (except saved
files)

Thanks.

I did all the advice and it does not work. The error
message still popping up every now and then. Even I still
cannot use microsoft outlook for my e mails because the
error message would pops when I use outlook. This is
getting frustrating after 2 days of tweaking with no
result.

However, I managed to get rid (I think) most of spyware,
adware, etc by running multiple programs recomended in
the forum. (proved by many illegal ware identified and
that search assistant no longer pops at the toolbar)

another thing, someone nick "SARI" reported that she
suffered the same fate (look at forum messenger). looks
like this problem is getting global. A new breed of
virus/botware perhaps?

I got it too, and tried *everything*...finally uninstalled messenger...I
have talked to a few others and they too have been affected by this same
issue.

Wow the removal tool actually works. Just like tooth acke
really, after you've pulled the thing out, you'll fell a
lot better.

By the way, I'm still wondering what might have caused
this in several cases? I hope someone will get a cure for
this, not just a "pull your teeth out" relief. I'm not
using messenger, but people out there using it will
suffer the most when it strikes.
