Opening webmail attachments

I have XP and I.E. 6. When I click on canada.com webmail attachments I get a
red X in a small rectangle. No error message. This began after a new clean
install of XP. I boosted the RAM from 64 (old E Machine) to 128 Mb and
installed Norton Anti-Virus. (Windows Messenger and OE offline but not
uninstalled). Email preferences under canada.com are apparently ok. Ran XP’s
System File Checker (SFC) from the command prompt, no missing or messed up
dll files. Got rid of spyware (Spybot), immunized with Spyware Blaster,
deleted Windows temp files, uninstalled Norton and replaced with AVG v7
(found nothing), ran Registry Mechanic. Still no luck, can't download
attachments. Any suggestions appreciated!

When in OE, inbox, goto Tools-> Options-> Security and uncheck iitems that
prevent attachment access. When you've gotten attachment in question,
reinstate prevention.

Actually, I'm in webmail and not using OE. Found I can "save target as" and
download to disk, no problem. Just can't open by left-clicking the link like
I used to be able to do.
