IExplorer window won't stay open

I have XP and use DSL. Last week my computer was attacked! I was using AVG
antivirus. I was getting notified of trojan viruses left and right (same
files over and over), porn popups (which really grossed out my kids), and my
home page was getting hijacked. I ran adaware, tried Stopzilla (which I
found useless, except that it kept my home page from being hijacked), and
finally broke down and purchased Norton Internet Security 2005. I
uninstalled AVG and Stopzilla and installed the Norton. Ever since then, I
can access email fine, my BF can play partypoker.net fine, but I can't keep
a web page open for longer than a millisecond.

Assuming this was caused by the Norton, since I was able to get in before
installing, I uninstalled it and STILL can't get in. I can't go to any
support pages for advise since I can't get to any websites. You guys are my
only (free) hope. Anyone have an idea how I can fix this?

LN (I can get email at LNS dot VERIZON at VERIZON dot NET)

you need the hijackthis tool, the cwshredder application and avg, adaware,
spybot spywareblaster and a trial of NOD32. as you are obviously unable to
get any of these files, i will email you them.

in the meantime, do you have an alternative browser? i recommend mozilla
firefox as ive never had problem with it... i NEVER get spyware when i use
firefox because it just doesnt accept it

Ok everyone. I bit the bullet and made the $40 call to compaq. They had me
download (which you can do from the my computer window.. who knew? Prolly
most of you.) a hijack killer program and that fixed things!

I hate having to pay the $40, but they are very good at what they do.
