opening desktop icon to internet site

all of a sudden when I click on any of my desktop icons
to open an internet site my window opens real small. It
always used to open the full size of my screen. Now I
have to take an extra step and open the small window.
How do I get it back to how it used to be?

Maximize the Window, hold down shift and close with the X. This should solve the
problem.
