Why not do what almost everyone else has...give on IE and switch to Firefox!
Once you try it, you'll never want to use IE again.

"Why not do what almost everyone else has...give on IE and switch to Firefox!"

Got some numbers to support "almost everyone"?

Recent review on CNet indicated that 70% polled used Firefox. 7 out of 19
is a pretty significant margin.

What a pain in the ass this is. I cannot update to the one that works
because I have a different one on my system. I can't do an in place
install because if I do that all I get is the same thing back again
since it is what is on the recovery partition of my system. I do have
my own copy of XP Pro from the old system that went crash bang and was
replaced with this one.
What do you think about changing to XP Pro? Can I even do that when I
ma running Media Center without losing all of my installed programs?
What a mess. I may just switch to Netscape which has tabbed browsing.
Why they set this up to not open new window in IE I cannot fathom,
sucks!

Read my reply.

Then re-think your question.

Did I claim 70% of Windows users?

I stated that 705 of those polled in the survey said they use Firefox.

I never said anything about Windows.

Perhaps you need reading lessons.

And I suspect that the only thing that is customized is the window title.

LOL...

You wrote "Why not do what almost everyone else has."

You forgot to mention that "almost everyone else" is actually just 705 people.

From one survey of users who read the Cnet website.

And you think I need reading lessons.

It's back to the doghouse for you!

The real problem is the ATI-RADEON display driver. The browser works just as itshould in safe mode. I have sent a ticket to support but gave little or no hope for resolution. I may just give up on ATI, return the card, Get an Nvidia card, but of corse that loses the TV tuner which does not work well on most stations above Ch64. Acts as though it had a weak signal which is false as a real TV proves.

I have used ATI video cards for many years. I build several systems each
week, the vast majority of which use ATI video cards.
Not once, not ever have I heard of *ANY* ATI video driver causing the
problem described in this thread.

On what are you basing your claim?

Bobby

My computer has just started to do this also.
I solved it. The culprit was the YAHOO TOOLBAR. I had it disabled and
either removal of YAHOO TOOLBAR or ENABLE IT AGAIN solves it and now I
can get all the windows I want.

Some have asked as to why I use IE. The obvious answer is that NONE of
the other browsers are complete. there are MANY things they do not
work with.

An example. http://am1280.thepatriot.com

Use Netscape and click on the play live. You cannot. It does not
handle the stream and I can find no plug in that does.

This is just a small example of why like it or not, I stcik with IE.
