New web pages opening

I am having a problem with new web pages opening on top on the page that I am
looking at. For instance - I click on a link at ESPN. While I am waiting for
that link to open I minimize ESPN and open a new browser window and go to
Yahoo to check my mail. While I am typing in my password to Yahoo the ESPN
link finishes loading and and pops-up on the screen over the Yahoo page. I do
not think this is a virus or a hijacker - I want the new web page to open,
but I want it to stay minimized until I am ready to view it. I am not sure
what this is called, or how to search for help for the problem

Using any up to date browser will let you do that easily (IE 7, Firefox, et.
al.). You rightclick the link, and click "Open in a New Tab"

I don't want to open a new tab. I want the web page that I have minimized to
stay minimized until I maximize it. I do not want the new page to open over
my already open page. Sometimes links that I hit on can take 20-30 seconds to
come up. While that is happening I like to look at other web pages. When the
page that has taken 20-30 seconds to come up is ready to view I do not want
it to automatically maximize over the webpage that I am currently looking at.
As far as I can tell Firefox automatically places any link that you open in a
new tab. I do not prefer tabbed browsing. I like to able to see what web
pages I have open in my taskbar. I never had this problem until I upgraded to
IE7 which I believe is the first time that Microsoft included tabbed
browsing. Short of going back to IE6 is there anyway to turn this feature
off? Would turning off tabbed browsing make any difference?

Thanks for you help. - Rick

It is possible to add new items to the rightclick menu of a page link, and
that item could load a script using 'external.MenuArguments' to capture and
assign the On Load event to call a 'blur()', in force till the first OnClick
event that restored the page. You would have to write it. Other wise, you
are stuck with the default behavior for IE7. The Done Navigation event fires
a focus()

I have no idea what anything you just wrote means except "you are stuck with
the default behavior for IE7"

Thanks
