old.windows

i have a toshiba laptop that came with a preinstalled vista home premium
version of windows,everything was going well till it seemed to develop a
problem while playing games,I thought i could resolve the issue by inseting
my vistsa disk and overwirtting the files,it ate all the info i had put on my
pc, i can access the old.windows but i would like to roll back to the
old.windows and try another solution i dont know how to go about this please
help
