office on windows xp media center

Guest

I can't use any of my Microsoft office products if I do not convert to the full Microsoft office, and I don't want to buy the full version. But if I delete the free type of office, I think I'm going to delete all the office products like Word or Power Point. What I want to know is if I can delete office now, but still have my Word and Power Point etc.

If you have a free trial version of Office, then that's what it is: a trial
version. When it expires, all the applications, including Word and
PowerPoint, will be unusable unless you buy the full version.

I don't think that helps Jim here. He wants to know if he can use his services without Microsoft office.

You see, with these new Media Center PC's going around, people want media, but they also want all their windows XP options.

Your original post is not really conducive to getting a useful reply:

then you have to convert

and I don't want to buy the full version
then you are out of luck

yes you will

the answer is in the question. If you delete something, how can you use
it still?

What is the expression that applies here... looks like you want the butter
and the money from the butter, or something like that!

If you want to save money, I heard the cheapest way to get Word is to buy
Works... but I do not know if it comes with PowerPoint.

No, the cheapest way to get Word is to buy Works Suite, and it doesn't come
with PPT. See http://www.microsoft.com/products/works/products/suite.asp

I am not a "Microsoft person" (that is, I do not work for Microsoft, much
less sell Microsoft products), but I do know that Word is not included in
the simple Works 7.0 package. If HP Media Center computers come with Works
Suite 2004, then it will include Word as well as Money, Streets & Trips,
Encarta, and PictureIt in addition to Works. But AFAICS, Jim has not said
that he has an HP computer. He merely mentioned that he has Windows XP Media
Center. I don't find anything at
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/mediacenter/default.mspx to indicate that
this includes Works Suite.

Your both wrong, the cheapest way is to get it right from the box. Really
you microsoft people don't know what you sell. Works 7.0 comes with all HP

Alright. This Suite 2004 has got to end. There is no such thing as this works suite 2004 your talking about in stores or sold by HP as far as I know. The only option left is to buy the Office Standard Edition 2003 (The office type most recommended by HP media center m470n. From my chair here thats all I have to say.

This will be my last answer to you, as I have to assume you are either a
mental defective or a troll. Did you look at

Hey Suzanne... In microsoft.public.office.setup, he/she/it claimed to
be a 14-year-old who has been using Office for 9 years...

That part is possible.
My 6-year-old son can draw a picture in paint, copy/paste it into Word, add
some more pictures saved from the Internet (browsing under my supervision,
of course!) and print an invitation card for his birthday...

I just hope he will not turn into a troll!

Hi, Jean-Guy. Smart kid you got there. Obviously takes after daddy.
But 9 years ago would probably have been Windows 3.x and Office 4.3,
which might be a stretch for a 5-year-old. I just thought I'd mention
the m.p.office.setup post to Suzanne, who I don't think visits that
group much, so she won't waste time arguing with a mentally deficient
14-year-old troll who has made 24 totally clueless posts.

Apparently he's infesting the PPT NG, too. Even so, I caused a PPT MVP to
spew coffee on his keyboard when I quoted one of his most clueless posts
here (the one about Sticky Keys).

BTW, I did not mean to imply that you were wrong in maybe thinking it/she/he
was not all it pretends to be... (Re-reading my post, it just hit me that it
could easily have been interpreted that way.) I just thought that it could
be possible, even if as you correctly point out that Windows 3.x was less
user-friendly than Windows 98.

And I totally agree with the troll bit... Is clueless a strong-enough word?
BTW, how about you? You are also a it/she/he... What is it then...

Garfield and Odie are fictional characters created by Jim Davis, so
we're "it". Duhhhh! ;-)

I think we know who Garfield and Odie are; we're wondering more about the
brilliant Word user hiding behind them. <g>

Looks like it/he/she is in your neck of the woods. I'd say a good
