OE Mail

Hi there,

I have windows Vista OE express email, after 2 months (brand new HP) it will
no longer send email and I receive this message.

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Subject 'test', Account: 'pop.charter.net', Server:
'smtp.charter.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number:
0x800CCC0F

I have read your many posts and followed all the ideas, even downloaded the
patch from oehelp and cleaned out those stuck files, but so far, even with
the help of microsoft and this great panel, I am still unable to use this
function. Currently, I am using Charter email at their website, it is okay
but I really would like to become functional again with OE.

Again, I have read and read on this great forum and tried all the
suggestions, still will not work. I also use a LINKSYS BEFSX41 router, some
say this could be the culprit. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

People won't understand your question because if you have Vista you
can't install Outlook Express, if you have managed to do that please
tell because a lot of people here would be really pleased :)

Okay, we assume it "Was" working and for some reason stopped for no
obvious reason. Did anything at all change just before the problem
started. Any virus protection added, any other security software, any
settings changed with the router?

Yes it could easily be the router but usually something has to happen to
upset them ...

Are you sure the server names are correct and that the ISP has NOT
changed something, I recall when USWest changed their server names to
QWest a lot of folks had trouble and nobody had told their tech support
about the change...

All the suggestions? I don't believe you.

Are you running Norton or McAfee antivirus software?

In all your reading of the many posts, you somehow missed the
overwhelming theme of suggested corrective action?
Uninstall any non-compatible antivirus programs.

No you don't. If you've read all the posts you already know that.

As I'm sure you're already read, that's usually caused by email scanning by
some program. You should have told us what anti-virus and anti-spam
programs you're using, especially if it's Norton or McAfee. Then we would
know to ignore you since you've read so many times that they're not
compatible with Windows Mail.

Hi,

I am very green to new techologly with Vista, I guess it is just windows
mail, I really did not expect to be insulted here, I was impressed by what I
read and truly tried the alternatives. I am truly sorry I posted here. Thank
you for your help, but was not expecting the rude comments, thought this was
a community of help. Thank you all for your expresssions of how to fix and
No, I do not have Norton or McAfee, and the only thing that changed was a
update from Microsoft.

God bless you all but could you be a bit nicer to folks that are just asking
for help.
