Cannot send some emails

This is the error message I am receiving when I try to send emails:

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Subject 'Invoice for David Hays', Account: 'pop.charter.net',
Server: 'smtp.charter.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket
Error: 10053, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

I receive emails just fine. I can send a couple emails but only it seems to
be sporadic. I just moved into a new house and charter came to install
everything. It worked just fine for 3 days. Charter says it is not on their
end. What can I do???

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no protection not provided by the regular
resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled. The latest version of Trend's
anti-virus seems to be causing problems too.

I did have Trend Micro. I read some of these posts so I uninstalled Trend
and installed Windows Live b/c it said it was compatible with Vista. How do
I disable the email scanning?

You installed Windows Live WHAT?
I don't know anything just named Windows Live.

"Windows Live" is a group name for a whole suite of programs.
Did you mean Windows Live Mail? If Windows Live Mail is working
correctly for you, you can try reinstalling Trend Micro antivirus, but watch
for an option to do a 'custom' install. Often that will allow you to forego
installing the troublesome email scanning module.
