ntdll.dll and uxtheme.dll

I run XP home SP2; when ever I try to open Control Panel I crash Explorer.
It usually recovers and Windows opens My Documents instead of Control Panel.
A check of the Event Viewer gives me this:
Faulting application explorer.exe, version 6.0.2900.2180, faulting module
ntdll.dll
Faulting application explorer.exe, version 6.0.2900.2180, faulting module
uxtheme.dll
I'm not aware of ever loading uxtheme.dll. I don't run themes other than
what came as the Windows default.
What does all this mean?

Install "TweakUI":
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

TweakUI > Control Panel > untick all applets. If there is no crash, re-
enable the applets step by step until you found the culprit.

Check with Start > Run: MSINFO32 > Software Environment > Loaded
Modules.
