not detecting discs

My computer is not detecting discs in the drive. I have looked at the error
log and it reported on the 20 december that cdrom0 has a bad block. I
restored the system to before this date but it has not helped.

can anyone help?
 
Hi,

You may need to replace either the IDE cable or the drive (I would do the
former first).
