Bluescreen when Using CDROM

This is the first of many issues I'm going to ask about.

I've noticed that sometimes when I put certain CD's into my DVD-ROM, Windows
crashes. It comes up with a bluescreen that says "MACHINE_CHECK_ERROR."

After rebooting, I see the following "warning" in the system event log:

An error was detected on device \Device\CdRom0 during a paging operation.

Has anyone ever experienced this before?

Thank you.

Correction: The error is "MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION"

The disk shows up in My Computer as being recognized, but then the cdrom
spins down and Windows freezes. 20 seconds later, BSOD.
