Nortons Antivirus 2005

Hi Norton Useres

I'm having quite a time trying to uninstall and reinstall Norton's
antivirus, I'll give you a little background on what I've done so far.
Error: "Nortons Antivirus 2005 installation has failed. Do you want to try
to install again?"

I've done the virus and scumware check as recommended by Mr. Lipman, the
system seems to be clean.
I ran the Symantec automated support assistant and performed all checks.
I ran Norton's SymNRT.exe removal tool.
I ran system file checker and check disk.
I backed up the registry, search and deleted everything I could find that
looked like Norton's orSymantec.
Now when I opened the security center and click antivirus it says "Norton's
antivirus 2005 reports that it is up to date and virus scanning is on".
If anybody have any idea of what's going on here will you please post your
ideas.

One thing to check is Device Drivers in the Non-Plug & Play
category of Device Manager. Usually, they are all named Sym..,
You can verify that it belongs to a Symantec product by opening
the details box, Click Driver (Tab), then the Drive Details option
box. The Provider field will show Symantec.
On many Symantec/Norton products there may be 4-7 of these
left after an uninstall. Remove these only if no Sym/Nor programs
are still on your PC, that includes LiveReg and Live Update.
Those two usually get left behind also and probably need to be
uninstalled from Add/Remove programs applet.
