non-microsoft pc games

I am having troucle playing games that are from before
1998 or so. With one Zork Nemisis I can get through most
of the game, then it kicks me out. With another, Wheel of
Time, it appears to load. As soon as I select play it
kicks me out with the error message C00d1329. I have been
told there were so many problems with older games and
Windows XP that a patch was created. Is this true, where
can I get it?
Thanks

Hi Sherry,

Any patch for a specific game would come from the manufacturer.
Usually you can visit their website or fileplanet.com to find them.

When a game is a DOS game, it could work using compatibility mode:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=292533 or by using the Multiboot
bootdisk from: http://members.ozemail.com.au/~lpcd/downloads.html .

With DOSBOX you can emulate a DOS computer on your XP desktop:
http://dosbox.sourceforge.net/information.php

If you prefer to explore other advanced methods, here are two of the best
tutorials I've found on the subject: http://www.dosgames.com/xphints.php
and: http://home.earthlink.net/~angeldancer27/XpGameList.htm :)
