No startup/Exit/logon sound after sp2

After installation of SP2 the startup , Exit , logon and signoff sounds
don't play.
The other system sounds seems to be OK
Also media player sound OK
Tried all the solutions advised by Kellys_Korner_XP site, no success.
On the sound schema tab in the control panel, pressing the preview button
works fine for Windows Startup , Exit, Logon and Logoff.
I installed SP2 on two PC's and both have the same missing sounds.
Someone has ideas to fix ??

No help from me, but empathy. I have the same problem
and have tried over and over to correct it. No luck.
