no sound

Reinstalled Windows XP and did all updates. Can get no sound. When I go
into Volume control it says no audio device. Ran DirectX Diagnostics and
recieved this message:
DirectSound test results: Failure at step 3 (DirectSoundCreate):
HRESULT = 0x8878000a (The request failed because DirectSound
resources, such as the priority level, were already in use by
another caller.) Can anyone help with this problem?

If Windows hasn't installed proper Driver file then no way you will have
any noise!

Look in the user guide and identify the Sound Card and location of the
Driver Files on the CD Provided, or else get them off the web.

Install these files and you'll have sound.
