I have reformatted my computer, reloaded and updated XP with no problems
other than I now have no sound. In the devise manager under hardware, I have
an yelllow explanation mark next to C-Media AC97 with an error code 10. I
have uninstalled and re-installed the hardware many times with no results.
Can someone please come to my rescue?

The AC97 refers to the onboard sound card. Go to the motherboard
manufacture's website find and reinstall the latest audio driver. JJ

How do I determine the motherboard manufacture?

Depending whether your computer was home built or purchased from a
manufacture such as Dell , HP or other. In this case go to there site with
your model number and look for the appropriate sound driver. Home built ,
System Information. JJ
