No Sound :o(

I have no sound at all from my speakers except when I press "test" on

the remote control. This happens with 3 different players I tried - I

press play and the songs play but no noise comes out the speakers!

Happens with all files regardless of type; tried mp3, wav, mpeg and

avi. System sounds don't work either. Don't get any error message,

just no sound. Have checked if mute all is checked, and it isn't. Have

made sure all volume sliders are at least half way up. Have uninstalled

and reinstalled sound card drivers and software. Tried the directX

troubleshooter and failed cos none of the noises played. Sound card is

a Creative Audigy 2. Any ideas? Am using Windows XP with service pack 2.

Oh I already tried that too, sorry! I saw that link in other posts and
nothing in there helped me either.

Plug the speakers into a walkman or portable CD player to make sure that
they work. It could be as simple as a damaged cord. It could also be as bad
as a damaged port on the sound card.
