No sound from headphone jack on CD drive

is there any particular settings in Win XP to activate
the sound in the headphone jack in the CD drive?
I do get sound out from the speaker, but not from the
headphone jack on the CD drive itself.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

The headphone jack will ONLY provide sound when you are listening to a CD
being played in the CD drive.

If the files are on your PC, you need to connect the headphone to the Line
Out on the Soundcard or Sound on board at the back of the tower.

Cari, if you don't mind, if Barry has a Dell PC the sound is rerouted thru a headphone jack on the front of the PC behin
the flap which can be lifted up. The headphone jack on the CD drive is disabled.
