No sound after installing XP on new hard drive

Just installed a new hard drive on one of my older computers and intalled XP
home ed. w/SP2. Got everything running good but am having trouble getting
sounds to work. Nothing comes out of my speakers. Got the lastest drivers
for the sound card (SB live value). Everything looks fine in control panel
as far as sound devices; only thing that stuck out was a parallel device
under the unknown category. Not sure what it is so I disabled it. Tryed
just about everything else. Updated BIOS...ect. Any suggestions??

sys specs:
p4 1.4g proccesor
512mb rambus RAM
80gig WD HDD
geforce2 (some old 64mb VC)
Sound blaster live value<<<

Make sure in volume control none are muted and all are up.
Or,if that not be the case then uninstall the exsisting driver through
the device manager and then reinstall the driver and update it.
