Hi All,

I hope to be able to get some help with this.

I installed "Radio New YorK" from the list of free add-ons offered by
Microsoft and then uninstalled it within mintues. Now I have no sound coming
from stereo desktop speakers. I followed everything in the troubleshooting
guide and still don't have sound.

Audio Codecs
Creative SB Live! Series
Legacy Audio Drivers
Media Control Devices

are what show under device manager and related to sound. It is Creative SB
Live! series that is the default sound device showing in properties, etc.
Since I never had any problem with sound before, I don't know if its been
there all along and/or if another program was default for sound before - I am
not given any options in drop down menus to change to another default. I
tried driver update for Creative and it replied that I already had the latest
driver. A few weeks ago, I downloaded the latest windows media player and
until today, sound has always worked fine on my computer. Real Player
doesn't play anything, either.

Nothing shows as conflicting, either - no red x's or exclamation marks in
yellow circles (just an exclamation mark after Live! in the Creative title).

System restore to yesterday didn't change it, either.

Speakers are plugged in and the usual blue light is showing - but no sound.

Hope someone can help.

sincerely...jw

This sound problem was fixed. I pushed the reset button on the electrical
strip where all computer components are plugged in and the speakers suddenly
worked. I can only guess that something hardware in the speakers needed to
be reset, or it was just coincidental with some other effect.

But since everything software audio was reporting that it was working fine,
perhaps it was a reset problem in the hardware.
