HELP: Win XP no sound from Sound Card

J

Jimmy Hsu

I built my PC using a MSI K9N Neo motherboard, NVidia nForce 550 chipset and
AMD Athlon Dual Core 4200 processor, with 2gb RAM. The motherboard has a
built in sound chips (uses Realtek Audio Mgr ) but as the quality was so-so,
I installed a Creative Audigy Value card which has 4 ports.

Then I went to Windows XP's Control Panel's Sound & Audio Devices and set
the Default Device to Creative Audigy and rebooted.
But when I plugged my Altec Lansing ACS495 speakers jack (Green) into the
Creative 's Audigy's Line Out port (Green), I get no sound from the
speakers.
Grateful if you can advise how I can make Win XP redirect the audio output
to the Creative Sound card instead of keeping it for the motherboard's
sound chips.

Many thks

Go to Add/Remove Hardware and remove the Realteck audio devices. Then
reboot and go in the BIOS and disable the onboard sound. You may need
to reinstall the Creative drivers if it still doesn't work.
