No Security Tab

The printer properties sheet is missing the "security" tab. How do I
get it back? XPpro SP1.

Have you tried turning 'simple file sharing' off?

Have you turned off Simple File Sharing, and is your HDD formatted NTFS?
 
Don't recall if SFS is off (not there right now), but I'll check. HDD is
NTFS.

Likewise. It isn't intuitively obvious that 'file sharing' has anything
to do with printer sharing, but it turns out it does .. actually it's
more like 'simple security' or 'disable permission management'. 8>.
