File Security Not Showing

When zi right click on a file in Explorer and click on properties The
security tab does not show up on the next screen.

Is there something I need to set so I see the security tab?

BTW, my rive is NTFS formatted.

Windows XP has different editions, like Home and Professional. So we are to
guess which one you have?

If using the Home edition, reboot into Windows' safe mode. Since this is an
admin-level function, you'll need to log under an admin-level account.

If using the Professional edition, did you leave the "simple file sharing"
option enabled (Folder Options -> View -> Use simple file sharing")? That
hides the Security and Sharing tabs. Turn off that option if you prefer an
advanced/expert mode of setting those options.

it was the simple file sharing....thanks
