No paint calculator etc.

I posted this message below and someone told me I could add paint etc by
going to add remove programs, install optional windows components by checking
them. Figured this would work and said this fixed my problem before actually
checking to see the components were installed.
What I noticed was that paint didn't get installed. Calculator didn't get
installed. Games did get installed but not the game free cell. I tried
several times and I rebooted my pc. No go. How can I fix this?

I also notice that when I click on paint, calculator or free cell for example
the total size of the file being added at the bottom doesn't change?
