XP Home Games

Recently reinstalled XP Home OS and noticed that the XP games were not
installed. I have tried installing them from the Add/Remove Windows
Components but only the Internet Games installs on the computer, not the
Solitaire, Freecell, etc.

How do I get the XP games installed back on the computer?

Were the other games checked, or did they not show at all?

You can always extract them from the XP CD, or copy them from another XP
machine.

Install xp cd,locate "Windows components" option on the xp cd menu,go

I have tried getting the games from the XP disc. And the same thing happens,
only Internet Games are extracted.

For copying from another PC, would that just be "copy and paste" into the
games folder?

FreeCell, Solitaire, and Spider Solitaire are in the Windows\System32
folder, as are the rest, IIRC. Copy and paste would work fine.

When you tried Add/Remove, Windows Components, were Solitaire and the rest
check-marked? Have you looked in the system32 folder to see if they are
already there? Maybe they were extracted already, but for some reason the
shortcuts weren't created. I don't recall the default Programs folder they
are created in (I rearranged, added, and deleted folders in my Programs to
suit my needs/wants), but it seems to me it was like Accessories, Games or
something similar.

You also need the help files for each game in Windows\Help
For instance, besides: Windows\System32\sol.exe
You also need: Windows\Help\sol.chm
And: Windows\Help\sol.hlp

In Windows Search files, enter: HEARTS.LNK
That should find both StartMenu links: Hearts, and Internet Hearts.
Mine were in:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Games\

(Were they installed under a different logon UserName? :)

You're welcome. --Richard
