No Internet connection

I have just installed XP professional over my XP Home
which was working fine. All my programmes/documents were
installed but not my internet connections and the New
Internet Connection Wizard will not now run. The are no
problems with the modem. I am now having to use my wife's
PC to send this message. Help please....
