Just re-installed XP Pro and control panel tells me I have no audio
devices, I think I had Realtek before; how to get it back?

Make sure its set to "on board audio" in the BIOS.Chk device mgr.If all is
ok,open add new hardware, search and locate the device for xp.You can/
could, install the software for it,it will locate it if its operating.

Andrew E., thanx for the reply, but I'm afraid I don't follow these
instructions very well at the age of 86. I have no idea what the
BIOS.CHK device mgr is or where to find it. I did a comprehensive search
and came up empty. Pls hold my hand and take me thru, step by step.
Cheers-Herb.

Hey Herb,

I read the post as :
Make sure its set to "on board audio" in the BIOS.

Check device manager to see if there is any items with a question mark.

Try Add New Hardware in Device Manager and have it Search for any new
hardware.
If it finds a sound devive you might need the cd with the Realtek drivers on
it if it asks for it.

Andrew did not leave a space between BIOS and CHK (check).
