No audio device

I am using Windows XP-professional with sp2 integrated. I have problems
with my audio device. It doesn't seem to be installed. In the control
panel, it just say "no audio device". What to do?
 
If it is part of the motherboard (ie integrated) is it enabled in the BIOS?

If it is a separate soundcard have you checked to see it is inserted
correctly?

Install the drivers?
