hi - i unfortunately upgraded to windows XP - i think i will have to change
to something else, because the computer no longer recognizes the sound card.
i tried with two new sound cards, both of which are supposed to be compatible
with windows xp and neither is recognized by the computer. i really don't
know why people upgrade given this state of affairs! i have looked everywhere
and find a lot of complaints similar to mine - so far, i haven't found any
answers. and incidentally, i do have the cds to install the drivers
but...nothing works. so if anyone has figured out how to sort out this
problem, please let me know - else, i am downgrading back to windows 98. i
can't believe that they let such an entirely unreliable and substandard
product on to the market. thanks in advance, if you have any advice, if you
faced something similar and actually sorted it out...

Go to Start/Run, and type DEVMGMT.MSC , highlight all the sound devices
listed, Action menu, "Uninstall", then restart Windows, to find the device
drivers again automatically.
