Why you guys have always to play the "Nintendo Kiddy Gamebox" card. It

Because it's still true?

As long as Nintendo is deliberately engineering simple minded games it
will be true.

You are so full of shit man. If Nintendo make "kiddy only" games, why do so
many adults buy and play them? Why in almost every single "greatest games
of all time" poll does Mario 64 or Zelda OOT almost always come first? Why
has Shiggy just been voted as the most influential video game designer of
all time? Why is Nintendo the only one making a profit from video games?
Why does eternal darkness, Resident Evil 4 scare the shit out of me?

Grow up, just because you either cant afford to, or choose not to own a
Gamecube does not make it a kiddy console. I have all major consoles, and
the gamecube is one of the best.

It's not powerful enough to do it through emulation

WTF are you talking about? One thing we _know_ is that the Rev is using
the same CPU architecture, which removes about 95% of the overhead of
emulation, and they are designing the chips themselves, so can easily
put in whatever they need for compatibility purposes.

The thing is I do own a Gamecube and I'd really like to be able to buy
more than one game a year for it. This is a problem with every Nintendo
system I've owned since the SNES. I think I bought 3 games total for
the SNES and 2 for the N64 (well, 3 for the N64 but South Park sucked
so hard I returned it.)

Mario 64 and Zelda TOOT are the two most grossly over-rated pieces of
trash I've ever played. They failed at the #1 thing games are supposed
to do... be exciting. I actually FELL ASLEEP playing TOOT. I hit the
water level and just gave up, it wasn't worth the time I was spending
on it.

If it seems I'm slamming Nintendo unfairly, I'm not. I want them to do
better and all they are providing is one dissapointment after another.

If they add the Gamecube chips then the new machine will be running
cube games natively, not via emulation. That's what I'm talking about.
That's the way the GBA plays the old GB games.

Flagging GameCube hobbles Nintendo profits
http://www.gamespot.com/news/6140455.html

"Though Microsoft loses money on each of its current- and next-generation
consoles, its rival Nintendo makes a point of profiting from its hardware.
So when sales of the GameCube suffer, so does the company's bottom line, as
shown in Nintendo's latest six-month annual report.

For the six months ending September 30, 2005, the company saw net income of
36.6 billion yen ($308 million), a 21-percent slump compared to the same
period in 2004. While net sales fell just 6.2 percent to 176.3 billion yen
($1.4 billion), operating income plummeted 51 percent, going from 40
billion yen ($336 million) to just 19.6 billion yen ($165 million). "

"Nintendo said its net profit for the six months ended Sept. 30 fell to
36.6 billion yen from 46.45 billion yen a year earlier."

Not sure what you're trying to prove here. A ~20% decrease in profit is
still profit (and over $300 million of it over six months), so you pretty
much proved his point that they are making millions in profits off of their
hardware and games.

No, he's right; those two games suck mighty hard for many people.
Nintendo ruined their good 2D games with 3D for me and many others.
Smash Brothers and Mario Kart were sufficient first party reasons to
have an N64 tho.

The point is Nintendo is on the way out. If they keep with their
current corporate strategy ("Games are too hard! People want easy
games!") they are going to tank and tank quickly.

While I find the Mario Kart series one of my favorite games around, it's
nice to know I'm not the only person who found Zelda: TOOT boring. I was
bored by Wind Waker, also.

We're a minority. I played Z:TOoT through to the end, but only because
everyone was so impressed. I wouldn't put it in my top 50 console games. I
didn't bother playing Wind Wanker.

Well, they took this strategy with the DS and its demolishing the PSP in
terms of sales.
