I have a new comp. can I install a new xp pro upgrade
over my old home xp edition? What is the difference
between education xp and regular edition? Help

Yes, you can upgrade to Pro as you describe. I don't know about
"education" XP. XP Home cannot join a domain, and has reduced security
capabilities. These things are not true in Pro, and Pro also comes
with IIS, which will not run in Home.

Only the licensing--who's permitted to use it. The content is the
same.
