Install Windows XP Pro

My computer that ran Windows XP Pro died! My other computer is running
Windows XP Home Edition.

Can I use the Windows XP Pro CD and install that version of Windows OVER the
Windows XP Home Edition? In other words, can I upgrade my computer from Home
Edition to Pro?

Thanks for your reply.

Depends on what kind of WinXP Pro CD you have. Yes if it's Retail (Full or
Update) but you may have to activate by phone. No if its OEM.

Is the copy of Windows XP Pro OEM or retail? If it came preinstalled then
it's OEM. If it was purchased it could be either OEM or retail. If it's
OEM, it's tied, by the license agreement, to the first computer on which
it's installed and can't be transferred to another computer. If the compute
dies the license dies with it. If it's a retail copy then yes it can be
moved to another computer and can be used to do either a clean install or an
upgrade of XP Home to Pro.
