Windows 7 new windows 7 pc

after 2 weeks my windows 7 operating system lost its optical driveE:/ after a system restore and im hearing its happening to a few folks. has anybody heard anything on this issue?

Did it happen immediately after a system restore? Also, was this a Windows system restore (used to roll back to a previous date), or a recovery partition restore?

Can you try going to device manager (just type "device manager" in the start menu search) and see if you have anything listed under the DVD/CD-Rom devices section? If so, are there any alert icons listed?

in devise manager i have one dvd a samsung external i installed after i lost the optical driveE:/ on windows 7 64 bit

no alerts lited. looks normal devise manager but no optical drive E:/

rollback to previouis date. windows is aware of its flaws in windows7 andsoi am i. they will not patch until 3/4 of the pcs sold come up with same problem. iv was told that by tiger direct and other sources. i can get it fixed for 2995 but there is no guarantee it will not disappear again. i was told that too. i have to wait for a fix from some one. and use my external samsung for now. ill be patient. bad speller. sorry getting there.

any body out there with a fix. im sure there is! im re-installing reg. mechanic and see if it can do something with the mix up in the registry. the files are still on this pc iv seen them.
