Go to Tools | Internet Options | Advanced.
Uncheck "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts".

I have the same problem as you Jim, and have already
fiddled around with the internet options with no success
attall...anyone any more ideas? Please help me and
Jim...is this a virus or something?
