Can't open a new window! Only one IE window.

I have problem with " Open in new window".

No problem with opening the first instance of IE browser.

But, if I click IE icon to get the second browser open, the first one would
be closed. and I can only get one open.

The same thing with right-click on a link and choose " open in the new
window". Instead of getting a second IE window for the link, the first IE
window would be closed /replaced by the 2nd window.

Any suggestion would be appreciated!

Hi,
From IE> Tools> Internet Options> Advanced> Browsing> uncheck "Reuse windows
for launching shortcuts."

And... you may have a toolbar or program running which is blocking
pop-up windows- something like Yahoo toolbar, Google toolbar, MSN toolbar,
etc.
The Yahoo toolbar is a very common cause. Uninstalling the Yahoo toolbar
should allow a second window to open.

Don and Bin,

I was suffering from the same problem and this solution worked perfectly.
However, I don't understand how this flag might have been set!

Any ideas?

Thanks for the help,
Ed

Hi,
In addition to the universal explanation of "stuff happens"... ;-)
1. Installing or reinstalling a program which interacts with IE might have
changed this setting. (eg. a security, privacy, tweaking program.)
2. An update/patch for IE might have changed this.
