New User Accounts given passwords during installation

Greetings,

I just did a fresh install of XP (formatted hard drive).
When prompted for the names of the users I gave four
names. When I then can to the logon screen with the icons
for the four users, I clicked on any of them and I am
prompted to enter a password. I have never seen this
before on a fresh installation. I am really stumped. I
tried "admin" and "password" to no avail.
