I could really use the Windows 2008 GP Client Side Extensions for a few
thousand XP machines, I think........
The one thing I really need is the Power Scheme Preference. I created a
test OU and applied a GPO with a Preference setting that creates a new Power
Scheme. I added a few XP machines to that OU. On one of these machines I
logged on and checked the Power Settings in Control Panel to find that the
Power Scheme I set in the GPO was applied.
I later went to the Windows Update Web site to get updates and found that
the Client Side Extensions were being offered, so I checked Add & Remove
Programs and confirmed that it was in fact not installed.
Does it make sense that this new preference item would apply to the XP
machine without the CSEs installed? If so, this would be really good news
since I may not be able to depend on Windows Updates to get the CSEs to all
of these machines.
Thanks.
