I just ghosted my brothers 4gb hd to a new 120gb Western Digital to replace
as his master. The ghost went fine and the system boots XP and everything
works. The problem is on every boot the XP install wizard detects the new
drive and wants to install it but it errors with " The device failed to
install" "The specified service does not exist as a installed service"
Clicking finish on the install wizard closes it but the wizard returns on
the next boot. All XP updates have been installed

Perhaps a repair installation of XP would do the trick.

For that you boot from the installation CD, first elect to
install XP, rather than repair the boot environment. The
installer will detect the existing installation and will offer
to do a repair installation.

After that you may have to reinstall all updates.
