NEW E-MAIL RECEIVED SOUND

Ok,

I know this sounds petty, but...

I have a user that receives a sound through the internal speaker when she
receives an e-mail and all other users receive the SOUND set "NEW MAIL
NOTIFICATION" notify.wav.

The users notification that she receives a new e-mail is through the
internal speaker of the Client Box on a Windows 2000 box. The other users
of the same Client Box receive the standard notification through the sound
card and the attached external speakers.

The biggest problem is that she writes the paychecks. Please help if you
can.

This is actually a Windows question rather than an Outlook one. Go into
Control Panel | Sounds and check under...hardware, I think. You're
looking for a setting that specifies her default sound device. Change it
from the Internal speaker to her external sound card/speakers.

Thanks Ben, but...

The sound for all other actions works just fine. It's only the "NEW E-MAIL
NOTIFICATION" that does not work and it's only that user. I've changed the
sound to someother.wav file and the problem is exactly the same.

I've installed the MS SOUNDS.EXE add in and all of the sounds provided work
except...you guessed it.."NEW E-MAIL NOTIFICATION"

Well, then you've got me stumped. I've never heard of, nor seen, any
setting that allows you to send only the New E-mail notification sound to
an internal speaker while sending all other sounds to the regular speaker.

On every machine I've ever worked on all of the .WAV files played the same
way regardless. Sorry I can't be of more help.
