New Builds???

Maybe I'm confused because I'm new, but if there's a new build, shouldn't the
update download it? Or in the very least I get notified about it? Or is
that just something I'm resonsible for discovering and updating? This is my
first time to beta test so any advice on how to keep up with builds would be
appreciated.

A new build is essentially a new version of the OS. It is recompiled from
the source and would be hard for WU to handle. Plus, the new builds are not
of the same quality as the milestone builds are. If you are just a CPP
member you do not get all the new interim builds, just Beta 2, RC1, and
5728. If you are running one of the milestone builds (Beta 2 or RC1) you
will get updates pushed through the pipes to fix issues and drivers.
