Netzero Hijacking IE Search !!!!!

J

Jim Smyth

Just had a bad experience when I logged onto Netzero.

They hijacked my main search page and caused the autosearch from the address
bar functionality to fail. The only way I could fix it was to restore to a registry from
before the 'attack'.

These guys have balls, that should be cut off.

If ever your Home page get hijacked again then use this little tool:
"HijackThis", which can be downloaded from this site:

Jim,
Did you sign up for their service?
As NetZero is NOT known to hijack non-users.
If you did signup for their service, then that's part of the
agreement you made = they control the browser settings.

I have logged into Netzero many times, and they never modified any settings before. I
use them only as a backup, and I should not have my registry and browser corrupted without
my say so. I supposedly know what I'm doing, but they so hosed something in there, that
I couldn't get the 'search from address bar" functions to work again. Some key was deleted
or changed , that I couldn't track.

Frankly, I don't care what the agreement says, no company has the right to modify my
computer FORCIBLY without my explicit consent. It's a hijack.

I solved the hijack problem by uninstalling the "Search Enhancements", using
add/rem in control panel.

This "enhancement" was in C:\Program Files\nzsearch.
