IE6 autosearch screwed by Google toolbar?

I have a Win98se machine that had google toolbar installed. I uninstalled
google toolbar but my search settings are somehow corrupted. The search pane
is fine but autosearch from the address bar is messed up. Instead of using
msn autosearch, I consistently get a google page not found page. I have run
"rundll32.exe iedkcs32.dll,Clear" and the other one. I have downloaded the
restoresearch.reg and iefix.reg fixes. I have manually edited the registry
to restore the appropriate search settings. Nothing works. I still get this
404-Page not found, use a search engine like google (with hyperlink to
google.com). Any ideas? Thanks.

Have a look at the value of the following key

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\URLSearchHooks
It should have the following single key
{CFBFAE00-17A6-11D0-99CB-00C04FD64497}

which points to the MS SearchHook COM.

If it doesn't change it back to the above value.

That is not the problem. I believe that when google toolbar was installed,
the option to allow searches from the address bar was selected. I actually
reinstalled google toolbar and turned that feature on and I *still* get that
same page. None of the other machines here have google toolbar and they all
go to msn search page correctly.
