Autosearch has stopped working

Mike B.

For some reason, IE6's autosearch feature has stopped
working. Now, when I type a search phrase in the address
box, instead of searching Google for the phrase, I get:

"The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The
Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or
you may need to adjust your browser settings."

Also the phrase I searched on is transformed into a URL,
e.g. http:///? foobar

I've tried numerous fixes without success:

1. Clicking Search/Customize/Autosearch Settings
2. Clicking Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/Search frm the
Address Bar
3. Fearing that IE6 may have been infected by
CoolWebSearch, I downloaded and ran CWShredder. It didn't
help.

I am desperate for any suggestions. Feel free to email me.

Thanks in advance!

Mike,
The http:/// (notice the 3 backslashes) indicates Coolwebsearch (trojan)

Note: this type hijack indicates an unpatched machine, that is lacking
in "Defense". Please visit Windows Update to avoid these exploits.
