I keep telling everyone. I have done all of the fixes to
remove the trojan that started this problem in the first
place. What I need is the fix now to get the autosearch
to work from the address bar again.

Hi Kevin - Cool Web Search is a relatively new, rapidly mutated parasite
which your previous runs of SpyBot may not have been caught up to. Try
downloading, unzipping and running this:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/cwshredder.zip to remove the
parasite,

then close all instances of IE, re-run the RestoreSearch2.reg file and
re-boot.

Still no love. When I type any type of search from the
address bar i get http:///?followed by my search words
seperated by %20 in the spaces and page cannot be
displayed error. If I click on search everything is fine.
It is the autosearch feature that has failed. I have
checked everything I can think of in the registry.

Hi Kevin - Well, time for some detective work. Open that RestoreSearch2.reg
file (RS hereafter) in Notepad. Now open a new blank document in Notepad.
Using RS as a "guide", now open regedit and drill down to each of the keys
listed in RS and copy the key and its value to the "new" document. Be sure
that you do all of them and all values present for each key. If you know
how to, the easiest way to do this is to export each key in turn and then
copy/paste (just the key and values) it into the "new" document. When
you're finished, save the "new" document as CurrentValues.txt and then
please email me with it as an attachment. Use (jrbyrd @ comcast.net)
(with the obvious change of deleting the two spaces).
