Networking with a HUB

Ok I have a HUB, Cable internet 2 computers and one of those computers has2
NIC's in it. Currently I have the Modem directly connected to the HUB and all
machines connected to the HUB. I know this is not the proper way but it works.

My problem is I have tried to set it up by Modem to computer with 2 NICs
using one NIC 1 as connected to modem and NIC 2 connected to HUB. I went
through the network wizard and followed instructions for this setup but my
other computer has no internet connection nor does it see the other computer.
I have a workgroup and the workgroup names are the same on each computer.

Any ideas on what I am doing wrong? I don't want to go out and buy a
Router, I know they are cheap but so am I.
