auto private addressing

I am trying to set up a network at home and the host computer is auto
private addressing the IP addresses. I am using a HUB made by Hewlett
Packard. I am connecting the high speed modem directly to the HUB with
CAT 5 cable and then connecting both machines to HUB. The machine with
2 NIC's (host) can't access the internet and neither can see each
other. Any suggestions would be helpful.

A hub can't share an Internet connection between two computers.
Replace the hub with a home broadband router.

Connect the high speed modem to the router's WAN (Internet) port, and
connect the computers to the router's LAN ports.

The router will get a public IP address from the high speed modem, and
the router will assign compatible private IP addresses to the two
computers.

In my first reply, I suggested replacing the hub with a home broadband
router. Here's another possible solution that will work with the hub.

Connect the high speed modem to the host's first NIC. Connect the
host's second NIC and the second computer to the hub.

Enable Internet Connection Sharing on the local area network
connection for the host's first NIC.
