Networking Newbie - Need Asst w/ Win 2000 Server and XP Pro

I have a Windows 2000 server at a small office. I would like to access the
system from my Windows XP SP 2 computer at home. But I'm at a loss as to
where to begin. What do I need to do on the Windows 2000 machine to allow it
to recognize my XP PC? What do I need to do to my XP machine to establish a
connection? Can anyone recommend an online step-by-step guide?

Thanks in advance!

Here are the basic elements:
- You need a take-over program on your office PC,
e.g. WinVNC.
- The office PC must have a fixed internal IP address.
- Your office router/firewall must forward port 5900 packets
to your office PC's internal IP address (if you use WinVNC).
- You must know the external IP address of your office
installation. If it is dynamic then you must use a domain name
service such as www.dyndns.com.

I'm not aware of any such site but if you google for WinVNC
then you will get lots of hits.

Guiding you through this process via a newsgroup exchange of
notes is not an option I am prepared to consider - it would take
far too long and it would be an extremely frustrating exercise for
both of us. There are simply too many elements involved that
have to work together perfectly. As an alternative you could
give me access to your machine so that we can install it together.
If you're prepared to consider this option, send a note to
pegasus_fnlATyahooDOTcom to find out more.
